Alok Clinic is a skin care facility in Panvel (Maharashtra, India). Panvel is a suburb of Navi Mumbai, a city that has seen rapid development in recent years. The clinic is owned by Dr Dipak Kulkarni, a dermatologist. He began private practice in Panvel in 1989.
History : In the initial years, Dr. Dipak Kulkarni was practicing as a part of a polyclinic setup. In 1992, he moved his practice to a new location in Yashodeep Apartments, Gadkari Road and called it 'Alok Clinic'. The clinic operated out of Yashodeep Apartments until 1999, when it moved to a larger office in the building opposite (Shah Plaza).
A newer and much larger setup was created in New Panvel from June 2016. This setup is equipped with various lasers and technologies. It is also being developed as a training center with facilities of library, seminar hall, well equipped operation theatre and audiovisual facilities suitable to conduct CMEs and workshops. With better parking probabilities, spacious waiting area, medical store facilities; this center is designed to give better service experience to the patients.
For operational reasons, it is managed by a partnership firm, Alok Clinic LLP, but due to common website and common patient database, patients will get smooth service irrespective of whichever clinic they visit.
General Information : Alok Clinic deals with dermatological conditions (complete skin care under one roof). The clinic operates from Monday to Saturday (9 am - 9 pm). Apart from Dr Kulkarni, a team of many associate dermatologists works at Alok Clinic (See Team Alok Clinic). The presence of this team allows us to operate both the clinics to be operated for 6 days of the week, for 12 hours each day.
Computerization : Alok Clinic has got a software to manage patient records, courtesy of Mr Aashish Patil of Infosoft Technologies. This software now keeps detailed records of more than 1,80,000 patients. The long term goal is to become a completely paperless establishment. More than 150 doctors spread over 4 states of India (dermatologists and non-dermatologists) are using this software, which was initially made for Alok Clinic.
Special OPDs : We conduct specialized OPDs for various special interests. They include Hair OPD on Tuesday, Paediatric OPD on Wednesday and a special OPD for poor patients requiring concessional treatment on Thursday. The timing of such OPDs is 11 am to 2 pm on respective days. Hair OPD is managed by Dr. Priyanka Gadge, Paediatric OPD by Dr. Dipak Kulkarni and Concessional OPD by Dr. Laxman Phonde.
Service to poor : Alok Clinic is considerate towards poor patients and helps them with appropriate concessions in consultation fees. For the benefit of the underprivileged, we conduct regular diagnostic camps in nearby primary health centers every month on regular basis. A special OPD for underprivileged people is held on Thursday at New Panvel as mentioned above. Alok Clinic offers free consultations to socially active institutions like the Kushtharog Nivaran Samiti, Shantiwan. Patients referred to the clinic by Shantivan technicians and government PHCs for confirmation of diagnosis of leprosy are seen at concessional charges or at no charge. Dr. Kulkarni and other doctors on the clinic staff are actively involved in the training of field staff at these institutions. We regularly collaborate with many NGOs and Government for such activities.
